Here are a few of the criminal law stories that occurred around the state of Alabama this past week:
- A 35-year-old Blount County woman is charged with attempted murder after shooting her husband’s arm with a shotgun (which eventually led to amputation of the limb) as well as second-degree assault for biting one of the arresting officers. She is awaiting a mentally evaluation and is being held without bond at the Blount County Jail.
- Cullman police arrested a convicted felon during the investigation of an underground drug operation. The 33-year-old man had in his possession a loaded Romania AK-47, a .40 caliber Sig Sauer handgun, 34 grams of meth, 1.2 grams of marijuana and several pieces of drug paraphernalia.
- Two men have been charged in the shooting death of a 15-year-old Birmingham male. Though the family do not believe the teen was connected to the shooters, police are investigating the case as a retaliation shooting.
